Will Azbell - Varsity Head CoachPrep: A graduate of Collins Hill High School (1997) where he was a three year letterman in both baseball (for Coach Bob Warman) and basketball (for Coach Wade Dykes). Azbell left Collins Hill as the first athlete in school history to sign a Division I scholarship. (1997 Georgia State Baseball) College: Coach Azbell began his college career at Georgia State University where he played for long time coach Mike Hurst. After a redshirt year and three years as an outfielder for the team, he transferred to North Georgia College and State University for his final year of eligibility to play for long time state of Georgia coaching great Tom Cantrell. While there Azbell helped North Georgia to a NAIA regional championship and a super regional appearance with a .333 batting average(.429 in the regional tournament), and a 2.66 ERA as a pitcher. Coaching: Coach Azbell began his coaching career at Mill Creek High School under head coach Doug Jones where he was part of the inaugural coaching staff in 2005. In 5 years at Mill Creek, the team participated in 4 state play-off tournaments making it to the second round each of the last 3 seasons Azbell was there. In 2007 the Mill Creek staff was named the Gwinnett County coaching staff of the year. This is Coach Azbell’s third year as a head coach and third year at Berkmar. Personal: Coach Azbell is entering his 7th year as a Special Education teacher. He is son to baseball super fans Will and Bev Azbell. He currently lives in Auburn, Georgia with his fiancee Shirley and their two senior citizen dogs Bear and Cookie. In his free time, Azbell loves to attempt the game of golf, work in the yard, and spend time with his lovely fiancee. |
Ryan Trussell- Varsity AssistantPrep: Coach Trussell is a 2005 alumnist here at Berkmar. He was a 3 year letterman for the baseball team under coach Alan Maddox. During those 3 years, Coach Trussell served as the starting shortstop for the team, earning Gwinnett County Player of the Month honors in April of 2005. Also in 2005, Trussell earned the 2005 Gwinnett County Dugout Club Scott McIntyre Hustle and Attitude Award for Berkmar. College: Coach Trussell attended Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA and was a member of the baseball team for 3 seasons. While there, he was a consistent contributor as a middle infielder and also showed his versatility by playing some 3rd base, outfield, and catcher, but had his senior season cut short with an arm injury. Coach graduated from Brewton-Parker with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports and Fitness with a minor in coaching. Coaching: This will be Coach Trussell's third year working with the program. His primary focus will be with the infielders and hitters. Personal: Coach Trussell is single and currently resides in Lawrenceville, GA. One interesting fact about him is that he is ambidextrous. He hopes to become certified as a teacher in the near future and make coaching and teaching his career. |

Trevan Moore - JV Head CoachBackground: Coach Moore is entering his second year here at Berkmar. He is a 1989 graduate of Jefferson High School where he was a three sport letterman in Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. His accolades include All-Conference and All-Area honors in football, a Conference Championship in wrestling, and a member of the Eastern All-Conference All-Star Baseball team. Coach Moore’s baseball teams won three conference championships. After high school, coach attended Alabama A&M where participated in the 1990 spring football program and the 1992 Club Baseball team. Coaching: Coach Moore is entering his third year of coaching baseball at the high school level. He is also an assistant with the football team here at Berkmar. Personal: Coach Moore is a Special Education teacher at Berkmar. He lives in Snellville with his wife Melissa and 2 children, son Bryson (age 9), and daughter Carson (age 6). |
Sam Moore- JV/Varsity AssistantCoach Moore is entering his second year with the program and as a Physics teacher here at Berkmar. His primary focus will be working with catchers and pitchers. |
